For some problems, the most useful thing anyone can do right now is understand them better. A team could gather data nobody has collected, map how a failure actually unfolds, test a hypothesis about the mechanism, or synthesize scattered evidence into a clearer picture. No prototype comes out of the semester — but the problem is better understood at the end than at the start, and that understanding is what future solutions get built on.
